Who is following you? John chapter 10 written from verse 1. Most assuredly I say to you, he that does not enter through the door into the sheepfold but climbs up some other way is a thief and a robber. But he that enters in through the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the doorkeeper opens and the sheep listen to his voice and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.
And when he puts out his own sheep he goes before them and the sheep follow him for they know his voice. Tonight we start a leadership seminar. We’ve covered leadership in various aspects in the past but it’s time we address leadership in detail.
Well, God is bringing us to a place where many leaders are rising up and it’s become time to appoint people to be overseers over different aspects of the ministry. And it’s important that we understand what is involved in leadership before we can appoint people into positions of leadership as overseers in the body of Christ. Everybody wants to be a leader, don’t they? Everybody wants to be in charge.
Everybody wants to be the leader but very few people realize exactly what leadership involves. I trust that by the time we finish the seminar there’ll be no questions in your mind as to what is involved in leadership. And if you should aspire to a position of leadership you’ll know where you’re headed and what will be expected of you and exactly how a leader should function.
Now there are five aspects of leadership that we will be addressing in this seminar. And tonight I’m just introducing the whole concept of leadership so there’s five more teachings to come. Each one I have given a title that is a question.
Just like tonight’s. Who is following you? Tonight is about leadership. Here’s a few questions you might consider.
Who put you in charge? Now that has to do with the subject of authority. That is what we’ll cover next. Who is holding the reins? Subject we’ll cover there is control.
Who is responsible? And under that we’ll cover the subject of management. Who looks like the boss? And under that we’ll cover the subject of presence. And finally who are you leading? And they will cover the subject of expertise.
And tonight let’s look at leadership in general. Get an understanding of what a leader is and what’s involved in becoming a leader. So you can decide whether you want to follow through the other five.
If by the end of tonight you decide that you just don’t want to be a leader that’s okay. You can you can just pass the rest of the messages on to somebody else. How do we identify a leader? What does the leader look like? Okay let’s first look at what a leader is not before we look at what a leader is.
Okay a leader is not a person who imposes their will on other people. At school they call people like that the bully. And you had people always impose their will on others.
You know that started way back when Lucifer fell from heaven and came and tried to impose his will on the new creation on Adam and Eve. And ever since they gave him that right he’s been imposing his will on mankind and forcing people to do what he wants. That’s not a leader.
A leader is not somebody who forces his will on somebody else and makes them bow and submit. Now there’s two kinds of bullies. The first one is one who controls others directly with selfish motives.
Usually very cleverly under the guise of I want to help you so therefore this is what you must do. Do it now. But ultimately what they’re really saying is I want you to make me look good.
I want you to meet my need. I want to feel good about telling other people what to do. We call people like that PIs.
And that doesn’t always come from parental inversion. But they’re people who dominate and control others and are always telling everybody else to do. Well we call it parental inversion because they’re people who act like little parents.
Like little mommies and daddies going around treating everybody else like children. Imposing their will on others. Well you know what if you’re the mom or dad you have a right to impose your will on the child.
It’s your responsibility to mold them. But nobody gave you the right to go and impose your will on other people and just to go on molding them. Just because it suits you.
The other kind of bully is more subtle. It’s a person who manipulates others. And we call people like that a shrike.
They manipulate with soft words. They manipulate with subtle suggestions. Don’t impose their will directly but kind of control people manipulatively.
So that people end up doing what they want. A leader is not somebody who imposes their will. A PI and a shrike are not the kind of leaders that you and I want to follow.
They’re the kind of leaders who force us to follow them whether by choice or unwittingly we get caught in their manipulation and end up following their will. Don’t ever be that kind of leader. And if you fool yourself into thinking you’re a leader because you’ve got people to obey you.
Don’t kid yourself. You’re just imposing your will on others who are too weak to resist you or too stupid to see what you’re trying to do when you manipulate them. That’s not leadership.
Well, what is a leader? I’ve given this definition so many times you people should know it by now. It’s built up in the title of this message. Who is following you? A leader is somebody who has a following.
A leader is somebody who has people following them. Until people follow you, you’re not a leader. And the perfect picture of a leader in the scriptures is the shepherd.
And we look that in that passage of scripture. The Lord said, My sheep hear my voice. They know my voice.
They listen to me. He gives a few other things there that the leader does, the shepherd does. And we’ll be looking at all of those in due course as we go through the series.
So what does a leader do in order to create a following? Firstly, he plots a course for the group. He plots a course. What did Jesus say concerning the shepherd? He said when he puts out his own sheep, he goes before them.
The sheep follow him for they know his voice. The shepherd makes a decision and says, Okay, we’re going to go to a different part of the country today because there’s good grass there and water and everything that the sheep need. He plots the course.
The sheep don’t get together and take a vote and say, We would like to go because we prefer the grass that’s on that side. And overrule the shepherd. The shepherd plots the course for the group.
And then he gives clear directions for the course. He doesn’t assume that all the sheep know what he’s thinking. The leader does not assume that everybody just thinks like him.
Because the chances are they don’t. That’s why they sheep. If they thought like him, they’d all be shepherds, wouldn’t they? Don’t ever assume as a leader that those that are following you have even the common sense to know why they’re following you.
Don’t leave it up to them to make the decisions. You plot a course for the group and then you give very clear directions. People are actually waiting there for directions.
Please tell us what to do. We’re not sure. I don’t know where to start.
They have lots of zeal, lots of energy. They want to go. They want to follow.
You’re saying, Let’s go. Are we going somewhere? They say, Oh yeah, we’re right behind you. Where we going? Give them directions.
Very clear directions. So you don’t have a few sheep going this way and a few the other way. You want to be a good leader, you need to communicate with those that are following you.
And then after you’ve given them all these directions, don’t stand there waiting for them to all move. Okay, guys, I told you what to do. Get going.
And you stand there and nobody’s moving. You say, What’s with you guys? I told you what to do. Why aren’t you doing it? You see, that’s not the leader.
That’s not a leader. Well, there are other aspects to leadership that we’ll consider later. Well, you might be doing that.
But those who follow are waiting for some person to follow, not instructions to follow. You are the leader. You know that old English expression, do as I say, don’t do as I do.
That’s not a leader. A leader is ready to do whatever he tells the others to do. And if he’s plotted the course, he’s the first one stepping out to fulfill that course, whether they follow him or not.
Your leadership is not determined by whether they’re going to follow you or not. So okay, guys, this is what we’re going to do. This is my plan of action.
Let me give you clear instructions of what we’re going to do. This is what we’re going to carry out. This is the plan and off you step and nobody follows.
Oh, that’s their problem, not yours. You must step out. There will often be those who won’t follow.
But if you’re a good leader, if you’re a good leader, they will follow. Maybe if you stepped out after giving them the instructions and nobody followed, maybe you missed it some way. Maybe you didn’t show real leadership characteristics and we’ll look at more of those as we go on.
The leader doesn’t only give instructions. The leader motivates and encourages those that are following. Okay, guys, we’re going to climb this mountain, this sure steep face.
We’re going to go right at the top. Okay, this is the course that I plotted. This is the way we’re going.
We’re just going to go straight up, take our ropes and our picks and just climb with our bare hands. And the followers are saying, I don’t think it’s a good idea. I think I could make it up that mountain.
He said, come, let me show you. It’s quite easy. You step out.
Before you know it, you’re right up there looking down at them. Come on, guys. And they’re standing there saying nothing.
They’re standing trying to decide, well, do we want to follow this guy and fall and kill ourselves? See, now you’ve got to encourage and motivate them. Come on, I can do it. So can you.
Let me show you. It’s very easy. You, come give it a try.
Come, come. Encourage, motivate. That’s leadership.
But you’re stepping outside, useless bunch of sheep. Goodness sakes, they can’t even climb a mountain. They probably never did it before.
What kind of leader are you? Motivate and encourage them. People are not following you. Perhaps you failed in one of these things.
You didn’t make a very clear course. You didn’t give clear instructions. You didn’t take the lead by stepping out first and you didn’t encourage and motivate them to follow you.
These are all points of failure in leadership. Now, here’s a very, very important quality of leadership. And don’t miss this one.
A leader is somebody who is unselfish. Oh, you see guys, the real reason we’re climbing this mountain is because if I can get all of you up there, I’m going to appear on the front page of the newspaper. I’m going to be in the news because nobody’s ever taken a group up there before.
See, so we get to the top, my name will really be published and will become great. So come on, follow me so that we can all become famous. Yeah, they’re going to risk their lives for you, right? They’re going to take a chance of breaking their necks up that mountain so you can be famous.
You do not lead for personal gain. You do not use people to attain your goals. That is not leadership.
You do not abuse people and take advantage of the poor, weak, foolish idiots who are dumb sheep, who do whatever you tell them to do without thinking. You don’t take advantage of people. You don’t abuse the privilege of leadership.
You don’t ever lead for personal gain. That is not leadership. Leadership is always flowing out in love.
You’ve got to give these people a reason to follow you. And what greater reason than to flow out in love to the point where they will do anything for you, simply because of the love that you poured into them. Do you know love obligates people? Love obligates people to do things.
You know, somebody does you a good deed, you kind of feel obligated to follow them, and it happens automatically. Now, a leader must not only be unselfish and not lead in order to personally gain, but the leader should be other oriented and outgoing enough to be willing to give out everything that they have. You’re willing to share everything that you have with those that are following you.
Well, a lot of leaders don’t do that because they’re afraid that maybe one of the sheep might be a better shepherd than them. And if he knows as much as me, he might rise up and usurp my leadership, take over. Well, you do get absolums, but you should never be threatened by that if you’re a true leader, because you know who you are.
A true leader is ready actually to say, come on Absalom, do your thing. If you think I can’t handle it, please feel free. And if Absalom’s a better leader than you, it might be a good idea.
If not, he’ll get caught in the bush with his long hair. He’ll hang himself, right? See, if your motive is not selfish, you’re never threatened. You’re never threatened by somebody else knowing more than you and trying to usurp your leadership.
Why should you be? You’re not doing it for personal gain. You’re offering people out of love everything that you have. That means you’re prepared to give them of what you own, all temporal things.
It means you’re prepared to give them intellectual things, everything that you know. And it means you are prepared to give them spiritual things. Everything that you’ve attained, all your spiritual knowledge, your spiritual experience, your anointing, everything that God has given you, you are ready to impart to those that are following you.
That’s real leadership, isn’t it? That’s real leadership. Somebody who’s unselfish. Now, leaders are made, not born.
Oh, you know what? He was just born to be a leader. You could tell it by the way he cried in the crib. Now, I’m not discounting the fact that God can call a person from birth.
And he did. Paul said, God separated me from the womb, called me to be an apostle to the Gentiles. Yes, there’s a sense in which you were born to be a leader, but you were not born being a leader.
Don’t confuse those two. Leadership is not a skill that comes through the genes automatically. Leadership is something that must be created.
Nobody is naturally born to be a leader. It is something that is developed through life. Has to be, isn’t it? You came into the world, you came to the world all by yourself.
There was nobody to lead when you were in the womb. You had no practice there. Leadership has to involve other people.
It is only as you become aware of and interact with other people that you become a leader. Well, a lot of babies, they find out that they can lead the mothers very easily. And maybe some leadership temperament is developed in the crib.
I can make her do whatever I want. And then she comes running. What’s wrong? What’s wrong? What’s wrong? What can I give you? Stuff things in your mouth.
That’s not leadership, is it? That’s being a shrike. See, babies are natural shrikes. They really are.
They know how to manipulate you. Make you do whatever they want. If you’re bound to that, you’re not a leader.
Let the little child become the leader. Manipulate you. See, it’s the flesh.
We all want to be leaders, even from birth. Soon we become aware of it. Soon we become aware of people around about us.
We want to control them. Yeah, and you thought that PI was only developed later. Developed very quickly.
Very quickly. Leaders must be made. Well, how are they going to be made? Firstly, through training and instruction.
Oh, I remember early in my spiritual experience when I was desiring to go into ministry. And I got my first church and found out I wasn’t a leader because nobody was following. That was a terrifying experience.
Stand up there and preach. And that was great. People loved my preaching.
They wouldn’t follow me. Following other people who were stronger leaders than me. I went and bought all these books on leadership.
And they all told me what a leader should be. And they all told me that I wasn’t a leader. That’s all they did.
They told me I wasn’t a leader. It just seemed to be nobody there would teach you how to become a leader. All they told you is what was expected of a leader.
And if you weren’t that, then you’re not a leader. Well, I hope by the end of this series that you won’t be in the same position as that. Waiting for somebody to tell you how to be a leader.
And just knowing that your leadership ability is really just a bad. Just give up the whole idea of being a leader. Well, you know what? God never called me to be a leader.
That’s a good cop out. That’s a good one to use. You know, I would be a leader if God had called me to, but he never called me to.
So I can’t be a leader. Leadership is something that you have a choice of, and we’ll look at that shortly. So the first thing that’s going to be involved in making a leader, and a leader has to be made, is training and instruction.
That means an impartation of knowledge. But more than that, training. Training involves discipline and various other things, and we’ll look at that.
So all that’s required of you when you start out to become a leader is a willingness to learn. See, famous last words are always, one thing I have learned. As soon as you think that, you’re lost.
Because you’re going to learn it all over again. A leader is somebody who’s continually learning. He has a quest for knowledge.
He’s just never satisfied. He wants to know more, and more, and more. He refuses to be satisfied with the current knowledge he has, because it’s worked for a while, and you think you’ve got it under control, and the Lord will send you a Colette, or a Craig, or a Claude, or a Nadine, and you’re in trouble.
Because the principles don’t work. They work fine on everybody else, but they won’t work on her. She defies the roots.
So we start again. More things to learn. If you’re in any way involved with GMR, you know, you know that there is a death ahead.
How do you know when there’s a death coming? When you’ve just resurrected. And you just resurrected, you know there’s a death coming. We don’t know when, but it’s coming.
Watch. Because that’s the next level. That’s part of your training, and if you want to be a leader, and you want to move higher up in leadership, there’s death coming.
So are you prepared to pay a price for that knowledge that you need? So I need to know more to lead this difficult person. There’s a price to pay for that knowledge. And it’s not just the price of a book.
It’s going to cost you more than that. Because if you’re in GMR, we probably wrote a book. That’s a good start.
You can go and buy the book, buy the CDs, buy the DVDs, watch the message. In fact, this series would be a very good one to start with. So if you’re hearing this one for the first time, go and buy the whole set.
See, that’s being a leader. I’m leading you to follow me and buy all the tapes. Is it? Well, we’ll find out.
If we get results, then I know I’m a good leader. It requires knowledge through training and instruction to become a leader. Now involved in that training instruction is going to be the application of discipline and pressure.
The two things we really hate in life, discipline and pressure. You know, I’m not a child anymore. I don’t need to be disciplined.
You want to be a leader? Yes, but I am a leader. Okay. Is there anybody above you who leads you? Well, unless you become Jesus, the answer is always yes.
There’s always somebody above you who will lead you. And at the end of the pile is Jesus himself. Always somebody leading you.
So do you want to move from being the follower to the next level of leadership? And you can’t stay the way you are, can you? Something’s got to change. And so the first thing that’s needed of you is a willingness to change. Now, how are you going to change? You’re going to sit down one day and say, you know what? I think I’ll change.
Know anybody who’s done that? We don’t like to change. I’m comfortable the way I’m doing things. Things are going just good.
I’ve got it all under control. Got my life together. You know, we just settled down and got things working good.
Now you’re tasked to change. If you’re part of Change MRN, it’s going to happen to you. A willingness to change.
Well, how does change happen? Correction, firstly. You’ve got to be willing to be corrected. You’ve got to be willing for somebody to say to you, you’re doing it all wrong.
So what has worked fine up until now? Well, it probably has at the level of leadership you are. But if you want to move to the next level, it’s going to require a different approach. You’re not willing to have anybody correct you and point out where you’re going wrong.
How are you ever going to change? See, these are some of the prices to pay for leadership. There must be a willingness to give up all. Ooh, that’s the hard one.
You see, everything has worked great. All the knowledge that I have, all the anointings, everything that I have, have worked great. You know, they’ve worked great down here, but you’re about to climb the mountain.
Are you going to climb the mountain? You don’t cart all the baggage with you. It’s too heavy. You want to move up to the next level of leadership.
You will have to leave behind what you’ve had up until now. So, you know, I like leading this little group. Then stay there.
I’d like to be the higher boss as well. Then give this one up because you can’t do both. Somebody else is going to step in your place when you climb the mountain.
You know, he’s going to take over your desk and your computer and everything there. Can’t I take my desk up the mountain? You try climbing a mountain with a desk. Uh-uh.
Yeah, I’m speaking figuratively here. You’ve got to leave behind everything. You’ve got to go on naked.
Well, you know, there’s a bigger desk waiting at the top of the mountain. There’s a nice computer and one that you’ve desired. And you see, what we want is we want to get the new part first and then we’ll give up the old one just in case I don’t make it.
What if I don’t make it up the mountain and somebody else stepped in took over everything in the bottom and I come stumbling, falling down. I never made it to the top and now I’m sitting without anything. That’s one of the risks you’re going to have to take.
I didn’t say you’ve got to do this. I said you must be willing to do it. Okay.
There must be a willingness to submit to authority. You see, a leader is always somebody under authority. What did St. Jordan say when he came to Jesus? He said, I am a man under authority.
Well, look at that in some detail when we look at the message on authority. You’ve always got to be under another leader. Otherwise, you can’t function effectively.
So you must be willing to submit to authority. And here is the final one. You must be willing to be tested and tried.
There’s nothing in this world that does not require learning and examination time, qualification and then promotion. It’s no different in the spiritual realm to what it is in the natural realm. Not even in natural leadership, the same thing is involved.
Learning, being tested, qualifying, and then being promoted to the next highest level. That is how a leader is made. It takes pressure.
It takes learning. It takes change. If you’re not prepared to do that, you cannot become a leader.
Well, let’s look at this a bit practically. How do we move from being a follower to a leader? The first thing that must change is your image of yourself. How do you see yourself? As the leader or as the follower? See now in your mind, in your mind, you’re desiring and wanting to be the leader.
And so you can see yourself standing up there, the big boss, the hot shot, telling everybody what to do. You can daydream about this and imagine how wonderful it’ll be one day for me to be able to do as I please because I’m the boss. But within yourself, within yourself is still the image of a loser, the image of a weak follower.
You see, you can put on the mask, you can pretend, and you might even fool a lot of people. But the image that is inside of you has to be the starting point. And until you see yourself as a leader, you will never become a leader.
The basic principle of life. It’s a principle of the way of blessing. We have what we say, we get what we see.
Saying is also a good part. Start saying it out loud. Start confessing it.
I am a leader. See it. See it.
And when you see it, you may suddenly find people following you. See, as you’re learning, as you’re submitting, even as you’re being the servant of all, you’re seeing yourself as the leader. You know, Joseph had these dreams where everybody was bowing down to him.
You know, those dreams never died even when he was sitting in prison and being treated like a slave. Those dreams never died. They may have had him in prison chains, they may have had him doing all the dog work, but he saw himself as a leader.
And the day Pharaoh said, come on in, become second in command. Joseph didn’t say, well, you know, I’m not quite sure. I don’t know if I can handle this.
What do I do? He was a leader. The image was so clear in him. He lived with it from his youth.
He saw it. He knew it. And he saw himself as that leader.
And when the opportunity came for him to step into it, he naturally just fulfilled everything that he’d seen. How are you seeing yourself tonight? In your hope and aspiration, you may want to be in control and to be the leader, but how do you see yourself? Do you see yourself as the leader? In which case, when do you become the leader? When you’re finally appointed? When people start to follow you? Or when you finally believe the images of your heart? Because you always believe the images of your heart. And if the image of your heart is one of weakness and of being a follower, you will never be a leader.
And if somebody should appoint you to leadership, you’ll be a weak and insecure leader and you will fail. So how do I change the image? I’d like to give three different ways. The first one is to look to the highest image of leadership there is.
His name is Jesus. As we keep our eyes on that image, fully believing it and embracing it, we will be transformed from the old point of view to the new point of view, from the old image to the new. As you gaze upon him, well, how can we gaze upon him? I can’t see him, he’s in heaven.
Go and look at the pictures that you will find in the Word or by the blessing code. It’s got a confession in there about being like Jesus. It’s a good image to start with, isn’t it? I will be like Jesus.
And see everything that he did, especially as a leader. You want to learn about leadership, go and watch what Jesus did. Go and see how he led and see a clear image of what you should be like as a leader.
And you know, the wonderful thing is he’s living inside of you. And if you let him out, he can live that image through you. But you know, it’s not always easy to see Jesus.
And not many people see him very often in the spirit. So let’s take it down a little bit lower for the ordinary people, like you and I. You’re going to need a human person to give you an image. You’re going to need a human person who’s prepared to make you into a leader.
Now, that’s not easy. I remember when I got called up for military service. And the first thing they did was destroy everything that you ever were until you became a little blob of nothingness.
And then they took that blob of nothingness and began to mold it. And suddenly amongst those people rose up leaders. Sometimes you need somebody else to make you into that image, to look at you and see the potential in you and to bring it out.
See, discipline, power imposed upon you by somebody else. That’s a tough thing. But if you’re prepared to do it, you can find a mentor who’s prepared to mentor you into becoming a leader.
Someone who’s prepared to mold you and someone who’s prepared to impart to you what they have. It’s a good starting point for becoming a leader. And if you don’t have any other place to start, go and find somebody who’s a leader and follow them wherever they go.
Until one day they say, you really have potential to be a leader. I’d like to take you and mold you. Now, most of us, what we’d like to do is to find the potential mentor, phone them up or send them an email and say, I’ve examined you and you passed the test and you qualify.
And therefore, I have chosen you to have the privilege of being my mentor. It’s never happened yet. We have people writing to us like that all the time.
And the first thing we ask them is, how long have you known GMR? How many of our materials have you read? And they say, well, I just found your site today and you’re asking me to be your mentor. I don’t even know if I want to spend time writing to you. Now, we have somebody who’s bought all our materials, studied all our courses, been on all the email lists, been in touch, watched us all the way through.
Ready, there, willing. Now, I’m ready to spend a bit of time with a person like that. He’s proved his willingness to learn and to follow.
I think we can do something with him. I think we could mold him and we could lift him up and make him into a leader. We have these people come in with a great promise of what they have to offer.
And if they don’t get what they want, they go sulking off somewhere. Oh, those were never material for us to use to make into a leader, were they? Totally inconsistent. If you want to find a mentor, go and find somebody that you can serve.
Go and learn to be a follower of that leader and walk in their shadow and make yourself available for them to take you because they won’t waste their time with you unless you’ve showed that potential. And the first potential of a leader is that a leader makes a good follower. Oh, there’s a contradiction in it.
Although I thought a leader is a person who’s able to take control and control other people and tell them what to do. No, no, a good leader is somebody who knows how to take orders and follow and submit and obey. Those are the best leaders you can get.
The best leaders in the world are the ones who have learned to submit first to another leader. And then you could find a spiritual father, somebody that you can imitate. And now you have a choice.
You have a choice to reach in and take of what this person has. And you’re not only following them, but you’re imitating. Find a spiritual father and imitate him.
Do everything he does. Do people start to wonder whether you’re not one of his kids? Because you’re acting just like him. You’ve got the same sick smile on your face.
That might be false. I don’t know. Funny way he walks, whatever it is.
Start to imitate him. Somewhere along the line, he’s done something that’s made him rise up and become who he is. Until you find that out, copy everything he does.
Because one of those, one of those might be the key. And you know, the strange thing is that when you act like somebody else, you start to think like them and you start to feel like them. And there comes a spiritual bond that takes place between you.
You know, there’s, there’s a wonderful thing about a spiritual father. Because he’s prepared to give you all that he has. Especially if he sees you imitating him really badly.
He can’t bear to stand and watch you just messing it up. You’re doing it all wrong. You’re doing it wrong.
Let me show you how to do it the right way. You’re doing it all wrong. He’s there to help you all along the way.
To pour everything into you. His DNA is wide open to you. You just need to reach in and take it.
He’s opening his heart wide. See, that is the nature of a spiritual father. And then, and if he doesn’t have that nature, just get in there and suck it out of him.
Just draw it out of him. Just be there all the time. The guy turns around and you’re there in his face.
Yeah, like a child waiting. He’s in a little baby when they’re hungry. Their mouth’s going like this.
Where’s the food? You know, you can’t help but feed a child like that. Yeah, you can’t help it. You just, you just can’t stand and watch that without getting some food.
Supplying the feeder into the mouth. Can’t help it. It’s up to you to draw it out of the one that you admire enough to be a spiritual father to you.
Find a good leader and look at that person and say, now that is the image of what I would like to be. I see Jesus in him or her. That’s the picture of what I want to be.
And just get in there and grab it and be ready to follow and pay the price and give up everything or whatever it costs you. Leave no stone unturned until you’ve got everything that that person has. And then it becomes easy just to imitate them.
Well, what are you imitating? He’s a leader. It’s so clearly a leader. You stand up there and you act just like him and people think you’re a leader too.
Cover that under presence. People think you’re a leader. You start acting like him and telling people what to do.
People suddenly start to obey. That’s pretty cool, eh? Nobody ever listened to me before, but I saw the way he did it. Well, copy him and see.
Give it a try. Isn’t that amazing? It works. Let me see what else he does.
It works. It really does work. Well, for a while you may be faking it.
You know the old saying, fake it until you make it. You cannot avoid picking up something that will eventually change you and transform you. And the most important thing that must be transformed in you is your image.
You can become that leader very easily. Not just any leader, but the right kind of leader. And so in conclusion, leadership is a quality that does not come naturally.
And it’s going to cost you to get it. But the most exciting thing is that it is available to anyone. It’s available to you.
You don’t have to say, well, you know, it’s not fair. God called somebody else to be a leader and not me. No, it’s not true.
Everyone listening to this message right now, you can be a leader if you want to. If you’re prepared to pay the price, you can become that leader. It is available to you.
Make the choice. Pay the price. Do what needs to get done and allow the Lord and whoever he uses to mold you into that leader.
